Through direct negotiation with the Health Ministry, Syarikat Glotel Sdn Bhd was given the contract to supply two Positron Emission Tomography Computed Tomography Scan (PET CT Scan) and a Cyclotron machine, and to build the buildings to house these machines at Penang Hospital and Putrajaya Hospital.

-- PETALING JAYA: The Government spent more than RM2mil buying radioactive isotopes from Singapore when Putrajaya Hospital had the means to produce it, the 2007 Auditor-General’s Report said.
The component, Flurodeoxiglucose (FDG), is a short-lived radioactive isotope that is injected into patients to allow the imaging machine to detect problems such as cancer, brain damage, heart disease or infections.

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 8 (Bernama) -- The Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) Friday said it had not received any report regarding a radioactive leak aboard a United States submarine USS Houston that made a visit to Port Klang in 2006.
Defence Ministry director of public relations Col Fadzlette Othman Merican said no investigation will be made on the matter.
"The incident is said to have taken place in 2006. Why report now? We have not received any report on a leak and no investigation will be done," she said when contacted by Bernama.

-- It will take Tenaga Nasional Bhd at least two years to study the possibilities of setting up a nuclear plant before actually realising the plan.
Its president and chief executive officer, Datuk Seri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, said the utility firm has started with preliminary research and is already training some staff towards nuclear technologies.
"The preliminary investigation work will take a long time, at least two years. Nuclear is not something you can do overnight," he told Bernama at the 13th Civil Servant Conference here, today.
Che Khalib said it was still too early to choose a suitable location for the plant

TOKYO (Reuters), Saturday August 2, 2008 -- A small amount of radiation leaked from a U.S. nuclear-powered submarine that stopped by Japan earlier this year, the Japanese government said on Saturday, prompting calls by civic groups for full disclosure.
The leak, which was too small to have any impact on the environment, was found during an inspection of the nuclear-powered Houston in Hawaii, the Japanese Foreign Ministry said, citing information provided by the U.S. government on Friday ....
