Although license to deal with the board has been approved, the
licensee has to get an approval from AELB to proceed activity

import/export activity.

What are the procedures to import or export
radioactive materials?
a. Obtain approval application form for import/export/movement
of radioactive materials activity from AELB or print out form
from AELB website at http://www.aelb.gov.my
b. Include 3 copies of application letters inclusive RM20.00 fee
for every application letter no later than 14 days before
commencing activity.
c. Upon receiving approval and start-up the activity, present
related information such as in Attachment A which include
approved application letter.
d. Approval (if qualified) will only be given for this period,
whichever is shorter:-
i. 3 months from approval date; or
ii. Until license valid date; or
iii. until RPO certificate valid date.

c. Radiation Protection Officer still within approval limit.

i) Obtain recognition as radiation worker
ii) Recognition period still valid
iii) Not a Radiation Protection Officer
iv) Not within AELB investigation
v) Not in the period of suspension
vi) Not receive accumulated dose (for current year) exceed
operation limit.
e. Lender is not in the period of suspension of
license/operation.
f. Obtain approval application for leaning radiation worker form
from AELB at the price of RM 1.00.
g. Form should be given not less than 14 days from lending date.
h. Approval (if qualified) will only be given for this period;
whichever is shorter:
i) Application period; or
ii) until lender license approved valid period; or
iii) Until borrower license approved valid period; or
iv) Until RPO lender recognized valid period; or
v) Until RPO borrower recognized valid period; or
vi) Until worker approved recognized valid period

^top RADIOGRAPHY WORK AT PUBLIC AREA
What are the procedures to be followed to do
radiography work at public area?
a. obtain approval application letter for radiography work in
public area from AELB RM 1.00.
b. Form should be submitted not less than 14 days from working
days and should include listed information:-
i) The start and finish location of the radiography work should
be mark on the public area location map.
ii) Copy of approval letter/permit from local authority, police,
contractor and others (whichever applicable).
iii) Dose calculation and the safe distance for exposed
radiation not more than 2.5 µSv/hour.
iv) Define basis serial number, basis container and radiating
apparatus which is going to be used
c. Items should be taken under consideration:-
i) Form should be approved/sign by OBTL/RPO only.
ii) Site evaluation will be done if necessary.
iii) Irradiating safety measures should be done before, present,
and after radiography work done.
iv) Radioactive material should be started at storage area
approved/recognized by AELB (if related).
d. Radiography work at public area only permitted between 12.00
am until 5.00 pm the next day but it will depend on AELB
approval time by time.
e. approval requirement will attach when the approval was given.
^top TERMINATION OF IRRADIATING WORKER
What are the procedures for termination of
irradiating workers?
a. Termination letter is handed 14 days before the termination
by including complete details as follows:-
i) A copy of Medical Check up Resignation Confirmation Letter,
page 16 LPTA/BM/5 section A.
ii) irradiating worker ID card (if applicable)
b. Medical Record Book LPTA/BM/5 Section A and LPTA/BM/5,
license holder will be given a choice either:
i) Keep for own possession and will be responsible to make sure
the record do not disappear [Regulation 45(5) P.U.(A)61] ; or
ii) Hand over to AELB to be kept.
c. if licensee terminate license, medical record should be hand
over to AELB [Regulation 45(6) P.U (A)61].

What are the procedures of radioactive?
a. Recognition letter should include all related documents: - :
i) Name of element and mass number, basis serial number and
basis activeness
ii) Disposal method
iii) Permitted disposal methods are:
